Prizes

The Association awards a book prize and an article prize in alternating years.

The 2011 Mark Pittaway article prize will go to Jessica Allina-Pisano for her article, "From Iron Curtain to Golden Curtain: Remaking Identity in the European Union Borderlands," East European Politics and Societies, vol. 23, no. 2 (Spring 2009), pp. 266-290

For the 2011 biennial "Mark Pittaway Article Award" nominations should be submitted to Paul Hanebrink, hanebrin@history.rutgers.edu; Arpad von Klimo, klimo@pitt.edu; Robert Nemes, rnemes@mail.colgate.edu.

The 2010 Book award was won by Holly Case, for her book Between States: The Transylvanian Question and the European Idea during World War II (Stanford, Calif.: Stanford University Press, 2009).

In 2009 the article prize was awarded to Steven Jobbitt, (California State U, Fullerton- sjobbitt@fullerton.edu) for his article, "Remembering Szatmár, Remembering Himself: The Geography of Memory and Identity in Ferenc Fodor's 'Szatmár földje, Szatmár népe, Szatmárélete'," Hungarian Studies Review, vol. 36, nos. 1-2 (2009): 15-38.
